Adequate Lighting

Zella Arc Table Lamp

Zella Arc Table Lamp

If you know me, you know that my two favorite things in the world are the word sale, and adequate lighting.

Chiasso is the home of all things modern and elegant at the same time. You can stroll through every nook and cranny of their site and find things you love (and most of us can’t afford).

That’s when my favorite word barges in, dims the lights and welcomes you in!

Chiasso.com is having a sale. An extra sale! You will get an additional 20% off of sale items with the code extra20. This code works for all sale items, including my coveted Zella Arc Table Lamp (pictured) making it $98 with shipping.

P.S. I have noticed the influx of traffic and I think you twitter-ers!

Teal Owl Bookends

Owl Bookend

Something I have been meaning to getting around to posting are these teal owl bookends from Barnes and Noble. While having coffee inside the store, a friend of mine and I spotted them in the back to school section and fell in love. She has an 8 year old son who just loves to read and thought they would make a perfect addition to his shelves full of books, and I immediately agreed.

The teal is a little off putting for a boy, so we gave them a quick coat of brown spray paint, let them dry, and then surprised him on his birthday. He immediately response was “Did Kris pick these out?” because of my love of birds (something his mother thinks I am crazy for).

He has a personal love for anything insect, and anything owl, so he was delighted. We watched him as he so neatly placed his books between them and then announced that it didn’t look right. In true DIY fashion (he learned from the best!) he went down stairs, grabbed a sharpie and added feather details and talons. Smart kid!

I love the look of the bookshelves, even in teal, as a decorative item in a kitschy room. You could also spray paint them any other color you want.

If an 8 year old can do it, so can you! Be inspired!

Awesome Lamp Find

I recently came across this lamp on the internet and became instantly inspired. It originally is aimed as a decoration in a child’s room, but if you took the time to remove the coat hooks and paint it another color, giving it some texture, it would look great in an English inspired room or even a more modern room if you want to be ironic.

I think it is a great piece, and could be manipulated in so many ways, for so many rooms.

Originally priced at $149.99, it is now a steal at Tuesday Morning for a whopping 75% off!

Site I Love: MyKirklands.com [contest]

One site I love more than anything, and can’t get enough of is MyKirklands.com. The site launched last weekend and already has a community of over 3,000 users that post images of their homes (with Kirkland products of course!) and rate the stores inventory. It is a wealth of ideas and inspiration that I keep returning back to.

My favorite feature so far, is “Quick Tips”, which show rotating user submitted advice. Everything is mentioned there, from measurements (always have them) to paint (color is a cheap way to change a room).

There is also a discussion board in which you can ask questions about anything home related and get answers from interior designers, and just regular people who have been there.

Worth mentioning: The site is currently running a contest in which you and 3 of your friends could each will $10,000 in Kirklands merchandise for your home. To enter click here.
